A Theatre Near You – The Movie
Small town family. Big city films.
The one-hour documentary film “A Theatre Near You” profiles a fun-loving family that owns and operates an independent movie theater chain across the state of Montana.
85 year-old Howard Pickerill and his wife, Ayron have owned and operated Polson Theatres, Inc. for 52 years. Howard started his career working as an usher at a Polson, Montana movie theater some 70 years ago, and his daughter Becky and her husband Gary took over the day-to-day operations around 2013.
Like Howard Pickerill says, “It is a business of faith. You have to have the faith. Otherwise, it just don’t work. That’s all there is to it.”

A Theatre Near You Producer & Director David W. King
My wife — and fellow film producer — Jessica King and I have been regulars at the Showboat Stadium 6 movie theater for over a decade. Jessica and I produce a film festival called the Flathead Lake International Cinemafest (FLIC), which is now in its 12 year. During that time, we’ve grown to love and appreciate Gary and Becky Dupuis, who oversee the overall operations of Polson Theatres, Inc., which was founded by Becky’s parents, Howard and Ayron Pickerill, who have also become friends of the Kings. The film A Theatre Near You took shape over a period of about six months. David conducted interviews and curated hundreds of photos and home movie video clips into the evolving final product, which will be shared with the world over the next few months via dozens of film festivals.
David’s IMDB profile is “David W. King (II)”
